THE CHAIRMAN – ROUX SHABANGU
Roux Shabangu, the Founder and Executive Chairman of JB Holdings is a well-established and highly successful property investor in South Africa. JB Holdings, under the stewardship of Mr. Shabangu has acquired and developed numerous commercial and retail properties for diverse tenants including both the private and public sector. To date Mr. Shabangu has developed a healthy multi-billion Rands property portfolio, either through acquisition, partnership or greenfield development of over twenty (20) thriving shopping centres and commercial properties across South Africa. A recent acquisition in 2019 includes a 17 000m² commercial property, Oak Avenue Office Park in Highveld Centurion, fully let with Blue-chip companies such as Huawei, Nashua and SGT Solutions. In 2020, JB Holdings also acquired Moloto City Mall in Gauteng which will be developed further to include recreational parks and residential development.
A major construction due to be completed in 2021 includes a 40 000m² shopping centre in Rustenburg (North West province) which is located within close proximity of the vibrant Rustenburg CBD and situated a mere 500m from the main taxi rank – which according to Prime Media is classified as one of the largest ranks in SA, with more than 7 000 taxis and busses frequenting the rank on a daily basis. This development is in partnership with the Moolman Group and Twin City Development.
Through the success of the property development company, Mr. Shabangu expanded the business to include other subsidiaries under the JB Holdings Group in industries such as mining, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and forex trading. His successful career has also afforded him the opportunity to fund the education of hundreds of young people from poor background through his personal project, the Roux Shabangu Foundation.
Roux Shabangu is a proud product of a humble upbringing. Raised from rural Dennilton in Mpumalanga, he is grateful for the opportunities and business lessons afforded to him by his late father, Mr. JB Shabangu. For this reason, he named his business empire after his biggest role model, JB. Through JB’s guidance and support, Shabangu managed to start his first business of supplying mealie meal to various shops across provinces. It was through this business venture that he managed to save enough to acquire his first land, on which he developed his first shopping mall, Matsamo Plaza in Mpumalanga to the value of R40-million.
COO – Riedwaan Naidoo
Riedwaan Naidoo born and raised in the heart of Johannesburg and holds a degree in Business Economics. Riedwaan started out his business career in the neighboring countries of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia and Malawi and later in life settled and started up a commodity trading company in Zimbabwe where he supplied fuel and lubricants to the industry at large from mining to manufacturing and farming, he has close to 25 years’ experience trading commodities in the SADC region and after 20 years based in Zimbabwe decided to return back home to South Africa and join JB Oil in the lubricant and fuel industry.
Marketing & Operations – Julie Shabangu
Julie has a few years of business exposure which she acquired from the family business under the stewardship of renowned business leader and property mogul, Mr Roux Shabangu. She continues to expand her business knowledge through her current tertiary studies in the field of Business Management. Julie has found an interest in the lubricants business as it presents many opportunities for aspiring young black female entrepreneurs. This is what she is hoping to tap into as she develops her career in this male-dominated industry.
